Pretty Lake Airsoft is a project started by me, InjunJoe.
It is the first DEDICATED airsoft field in central Florida and eventually I had hoped it would be the premiere location for airsoft games on a regular basis as I continued to develop the location to add to the player experience. Availability of the field for regular weekend play began November 15 & 16, 2008. Initially, the field has been opened on Saturday or Sunday for any day that 6 or more players have contacted me and requested that the field be opened for players. As the use increased, I had hoped to be able to make it available for walk-on play every weekend on both Saturday and Sunday.
The verbal support for this idea was great, but the actual support has been a great disappointment. My idea was that I could enlist the airsoft community to do a lot of the development work in exchange for use of the field instead of having to pay for the development and start out with a large debt that had to be repaid by charging for the field use. Obviously in practice, that has not been a workable plan. The number of people actually contributing has been small and therefore the amount of time very limited.
I tried to introduce the new field (Pretty Lake Airsoft) to the FA community by having some free events. There have been two scheduled FREE events, both of which had ZERO attendees.
It appears that the FA community has no interest in free events or having an inexpensive, dedicated airsoft field, but seems to gladly pay $30 or $40 to go play at one of the paint ball fields.
Therefore, from this time on, there will be a minimum field fee of $10 per person per day for the use of the field for all but a few people who have contributed time or money or materials. If there is any group who is interested in doing some further development of the property or having an event there, please contact me to work out the details.
If the interest remains at the current low level, the lease for use as an airsoft field will be canceled at the end of this year and the property turned back to the owner.
FIELD REQUIREMENTS
1) All players must be 18 years or over and will be required to sign a liability waiver before using the field. 2) Proper eye protection will be required. 3) Field rules will conform to the standards set by Florida Airsoft (www.floridaairsoft.com).
ARRANGE PLAY DATE
To arrange to have the field available for play on a particular day, use the email link on the left side menu and send an email with the day and time you want to use the field along with the number of players that will be coming. It will be necessary to have at least 6 players coming to have the field opened.
LOCATION
I created a Map Page where you can get directions. Click on the blue flag marker on the map. That will pop-up a dialog box where you can click on "Get directions: To here", then enter your starting point and it will give you directions to the field. Going south from the intersection of Highway 50 and SR 33 in Groveland, I checked the mileage and got 7.3 miles south of SR 50, so lets say it is just over 7 miles, and then start watching for the signs. When you see the second green sign with white letters on the east side of the road that says "Griner's Nursery", look about 50 feet past that for a dirt road. That is where you turn east off of SR 33. Then go about .4 mile and the road turns north. The entrance is about 200 feet past the turn on your right. You can also find it on MapQuest or Google Maps by searching for the address 7635 Glenwood St, Clermont, FL 34714.
